7 main reasons for cable failure?

Optical cables in laying and use often encounter some problems, this paper summarizes 7 common optical cable failures, easy to check in the inspection, and quickly finds the cause of the failure.
First, the cable routing line length
Due to the physical characteristics of the optical cable itself and the inhomogeneity of the production process, the optical signal propagated in it is diffused and absorbed at all times. When the cable link is too long, it will cause the overall attenuation of the optical signal of the whole link to exceed the needs of the network planning, and the optical signal attenuation is too large, which will reduce the communication effect.
2. The bending Angle of the optical cable is too large
Fiber optic cable bending failure and compression failure are essentially due to fiber optic cable deformation resulting in the process of light transmission not meeting the total reflection generation. The optical fiber has a certain bendability, but when it is bent to a certain Angle, it will cause the optical signal to change the propagation direction in the optical cable, resulting in bending loss. This requires that in the wiring construction, special attention should be paid to reserving sufficient angles for the wiring.
3. Optical cable is compressed or broken
This is prone to failure of optical fiber, optical fiber by external factors or natural disasters, the cause of small irregular bending or even breaking, when the break occurs in the connector box or the cable, from the appearance is unable to find the breaking point, but at the breakpoint of the optical fiber will change the refractive index, and even form reflection loss, so that the quality of the optical fiber transmission signal deteriorates. At this time, use the OTDR optical cable tester to detect the reflection peak to find the fiber's internal bending loss or break point.
